Do you enjoy gathering with fellow RVers to share good food and friendship? The rally-goers below do, and answered this month’s question:

What’s your favorite dish to bring to a potluck, and why?

Our favorite potluck dish is 7-Layer Dip. Why? Because it’s so good, there are no leftovers to worry about.

7-Layer Dip
1 can refried beans (mix with salsa)
1/2-cup medium-hot salsa
3/4-cup Marie’s guacamole
1 cup sour cream (mix with 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning mix)
1 cup Mexican (4-cheese) shredded cheese
1 small can diced black olives
1/4-cup green onion, sliced thin
1/2-cup diced tomatoes (no seeds)

Layer the ingredients in the above order in a 9-inch pie plate (2 inches deep) or similar serving dish. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.

My favorite dish to take to a potluck? My big, empty bowl so I can fill it with good food from other people.

It’s sometimes difficult for a man to find the right dish to take to a potluck. I always take a great dish named Judy. I have served this tasty dish for more than 32 years and always get great comments. I found the starter for my dish quite accidentally years ago and have added my personal touches over the years to keep this dish mine. My dish can be included anywhere. I have found, at times, that to really bring out the flavor in my dish, I add a little red wine. Garnishing with “Yes, dear,” “I’m sorry,” and “It’s all my fault” always makes for better presentation and enjoyment. Depending on the time of year and the occasion, the cost of ingredients may be more, but generally are within my budget. I hope every man reading this has a dish as delicious as mine.

Future questions:

1. Where can you get the best chili?
2. What’s your favorite campground?
