Do you ever marvel at the original touches motorhomers add to their coaches (or chuckle at the humorous ones)? Or maybe you are the innovator? This month we focus on RVer individuality by discussing the question:

How have you personalized your coach?

* * *

I designed a license tag for my motorhome’s front bumper. After I designed it, a company made it for me. It says “Rollin’ Home.” I often explain this could refer to traveling toward home (zipping down the highway) or to the fact that it is, indeed, my rolling home with all the amenities. In the center of the tag is a Masonic emblem, for my deceased husband was a Mason. It’s a good fact to make known, should I have trouble on the road and need help.

We have a mural on the back window of our motorhome, and a motto printed next to it. We have had so many laughs when people pull up alongside the motorhome cockpit to see if we are the people depicted in the mural. We also see some folks photographing the mural, since it is a little different. And, needless to say, when truckers read the motto, they make comments about it on the CB. How often do you see two seniors floating along, one wearing flippers and the other in bath shoes, holding hands, and toasting their “River Cruise” with daiquiris on the rocks in tall glasses? Don’t forget the yellow “ducky” cooler we are pulling along on a rubber tube, just in case we need refills.

We traveled full-time in our bus conversion for nine years. During that time we noticed that many RVs had a USA map with stickers indicating where their owners had been. When we converted the coach, we left the original metal ceiling exposed over the front entry area. This gave us an open, white-painted ceiling. As we traveled, we collected small tokens of the various towns, events, and attractions that we visited. My husband attached a small magnetic disc to each token using a dab of silicone. After the silicone set up, we were able to attach each magnet to this exposed metal ceiling. Now visitors are treated to a collection of our travel souvenirs as they enter our coach.

Future questions:
1. If money were no object, what one item or feature would you like to add to your motorhome?
2. Describe the best breakfast you’ve ever eaten during a motorhome trip.
