Family & Friends: Badger Chapter Celebrates 45 Years

January 1, 2012

The Badger chapter, which became one of FMCA’s earliest chapters when it received its charter on June 29, 1966, celebrated its 45th anniversary during a rally at the Tomah Recreation Center in Tomah, Wisconsin, September 22 through 25, 2011. The rally coincided with the Cranberry Festival in nearby Warrens, where members were able to sample cranberry products as well as purchase crafts from various vendors during their visit.

On hand for the anniversary celebration were three past chapter presidents “” Eugene Huhndorf, F50813; Fred Miller, F29689; and Roger LeRoy, F269999 “” as well as Bob Nebel, national vice president, Midwest Area, and his wife, Ann
.
During the event three new members were initiated into the chapter, and we also discussed the great member benefits FMCA provides. Fred Miller said, “When we travel, we should keep our eyes open when we see a qualifying coach to see if they have an FMCA plaque. If not, have your [Family Motor Coaching] magazine handy in order to give them information on joining FMCA and a chapter.” It was suggested that we all carry back issues of Family Motor Coaching magazine with us during our travels that can be handed out to potential members.

Each of the 50 member coaches in attendance at the rally received a birthday card with $10 tucked inside as a way of saying “thank you” for being a member and attending the rallies. A 50-50 raffle was held during the rally, and Patricia Williams won $90, with the remaining $90 going to the local food pantry.

It was a terrific anniversary gathering and a reminder that you do not have to be a chapter member to attend Badger rallies. All FMCA members in good standing can join in the festivities. Our first rally of 2012 will be in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in May. Check out the “Association Calendar” in each issue of Family Motor Coaching magazine for more information.
