After serving as president of the Olympic Snowbirds chapter for one year and working at FMCA’s Northwest Area Rally in Albany, Oregon, last June, it has become clear to me that our chapter has an excellent reputation and is well-liked in the RV industry. We have good member turnout at rallies from Walla Walla to Port Angeles, Washington (southeast corner to northwest corner), and from central Oregon to the Pacific coast. Much of the credit for this fine chapter, which has been part of FMCA for 27 years, goes to the exceptional members, who are willing to perform just about any job necessary to plan and create fun rallies. Recognition also should be given to the chapter officers who have guided this group through the years.
During a rally in Port Angeles, Washington, last July, five of the past six chapter presidents were in attendance. They included (left to right): Dale Surdyk (1997-99), Denny Nelson (2002-2005), Ralph Karns (2006-08), Dave Steinman (2009-10), and me (2010-present). The attendance of these five gentlemen was not planned. How often does this happen?
