The Coaches For Christ – South Central chapter began in 2005 while R.G. Wilson, L21025, was FMCA’s national president. Since then we have gathered for two rallies each year — one in April and one in September. Also during that time, we have participated in each Six-State Area Rally, where we offer morning devotionals to start the day and Sunday church service. Chapter members Ron Wadley and Omar Brown share God’s message with those attending these services. Our choir is under the direction of George and Darline Archer. Currently the chapter has approximately 50 member families.

Our spring rally this year took place April 11 through 14, 2012, at the Durant/Choctaw Casino KOA in Durant, Oklahoma, where we met for songs, Bible study, quilt-making, games, and fellowship. We were delighted to welcome Ryan Spring from the Choctaw Nation Preservation Society Department, who talked to us about the history of the Choctaw Nation.

During this rally, the chapter recognized R.G. and Jeri Wilson as the first recipients of the Coaches for Christ – South Central Lifetime Chapter Membership award. This award, which was presented to the Wilsons by current chapter president Richard Fryer and founding chapter president George Archer, was given to the couple to recognize their vision and leadership in the formation of Coaches for Christ chapters in each of FMCA’s geographic areas. The Wilsons have been members of the Coaches For Christ – South Central chapter since its beginning in 2005 and continue to be active during our gatherings.

Our September rallies are always planned to be near the location of the annual Six-State Rally, which this year is being held at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma, September 26 through 30. Our chapter rally will take place at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation RV Park & Festival Grounds, also in Shawnee, September 20 through 23, 2012. If you are interested in attending this rally before heading to the Six-State Rally, contact Bill or Maggie Schipper at rvc4cwms@att.net. Those who wish to remain in the park until the Six-State Rally begins will be permitted to stay through September 26.
