In 1995, Bob and Cheryl Preul purchased a Rexhall motorhome and looked for a related club. They found none, so they contacted FMCA. The Rexhall International RV Club took off from there.
To celebrate the chapter’s 20th anniversary, members gathered September 23-27, 2015, for a rally at Comstock Country RV Resort in Carson City, Nevada. Four charter members attended. We were saddened on the morning of the 23rd to learn that chapter founder Bob Preul had passed away after battling cancer. We kept him and Cheryl in our thoughts as we continued with the rally, knowing he would have enjoyed every minute.
Comstock Country RV Resort is very comfortable and close to town and various retail stores. The owner and friendly staff were most helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, a laundry, and a small store.
Our activities included a visit to Virginia City via an hour-and-a-half ride on a steam train. It so happened that thousands of motorcyclists were in town the same day as part of the annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally. Our group had an adventure! Noise, booze, and bare skin seemed to be the motorcyclists’ theme, all the more as the day went on. Our members took it in stride and enjoyed the old town.
Another rally highlight was dinner at Red’s Old 395 Grill in Carson City. What a time we had there! It’s a beautiful building with stagecoaches hanging from the ceiling, 1,000 different beer bottles on a wall, and great barbecue and steaks. Many of our members said they planned to go back.
Members also checked out Lake Tahoe, Reno, Genoa, and many other surrounding areas. Some members enjoyed breakfast and entertainment at the casino across the street from the RV resort.
Carson City was an ideal place to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We are looking forward to celebrating our 25th.
