As we grow older and fondly remember our youth, maybe sometimes we wish we could go back in time and relive some of those moments. Well, people had an opportunity to do just that at the South Texas Renegades rally held April 6 to 9, 2017, at Braunig Lake RV Resort in Elmendorf, Texas. The rally was a celebration of the chapter’s 38th anniversary.
The ’50s/’60s theme was evident in the food, includingcandy and treats from that era, as well as the games and activities. Young-at-heart members played Twister and attempted to avoid becoming twisted like pretzels. Other activities involved jacks, pick-up sticks, hula hoops, jump ropes, Slinkys, paddleballs, and yo-yos, with prizes going to members who showed the most skill.
Several attendees got into the spirit by wearing tie-dyed shirts; one wore a period poodle skirt, complete with bobby socks. As ’50s music played, some members demonstrated their fancy footwork.
It all proves that just because we’re seniors, we’re not over the hill!
