M. Peggy Palakiko, F465615
Occupation: Social worker, gerontology.
Home: St. Petersburg, Florida.
RV: 2004 Forest River Georgetown, a 34-foot Type A motorhome.
RVing since: 2016.
Three words that best describe me: Adventurous, honest, caring.
Favorite hobby: Motorcycle touring. In 2017, I put 14,000 miles on my 2012 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe, and I put 10,000 miles on the motorhome. I left for a road trip April 8, and I came back November 1. I recently traded the Harley for a 2012 Honda Gold Wing.
Favorite camping destination: Pacific Northwest area, including the Olympic Mountains, Cascade Mountains, and Vancouver Island. They are great places to ride my motorcycle and view the majestic mountains and ocean.
Most unusual place I’ve visited: Aztec Ruins National Monument, New Mexico. Very cool. I did not expect to view 800-year-old mountain rock homes and villages so close to Durango, Colorado.
Best camping memory: In 1980, while attending the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island, I heard Mount St. Helens explode. It was clear as a bell. But I never saw the mountain until 37 years later. While on my seven-month road trip last year, I could see how the whole side of the mountain is missing.
Nerdiest thing I do in my spare time: Study cryptocurrencies.
I never leave home without: My hammock and sleeping bag.
A famous person I have met: Singer-songwriter Steven Tyler when I lived on Maui, Hawaii.
Top item on my bucket list: A three-month motorcycle trip to visit the northeast United States and the Canadian Maritime provinces of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. A close second is to travel New Zealand by motorcycle.
