Members of the California FMCA HMC chapter celebrated the group’s 30th anniversary at a rally held February 28 to March 3, 2019, at the Lake Elsinore Marina & RV Resort in Lake Elsinore.
An anniversary highlight occurred when Fred Wells, vice president of the Western Area’s central region, presented the chapter’s 30-year certificate to Leo Metzler, who is 96. Leo is not only a life member of the chapter but is also a founding member. Fred said it was the first time he had presented a 30-year certificate to a founding member.
The rally began Thursday with a margarita happy hour and potluck. On Friday, a casserole breakfast was followed by a tour of the Southern California Railway Museum. What a tour it was. The museum occupies 90 acres and displays more than 200 railroad cars and engines. Four were in running condition. The day ended with a margarita happy hour and a barbecue.
After breakfast on Saturday, members toured a local brewery. Later, we enjoyed each other’s company at our happy hour and pizza dinner.
Departing on Sunday is always sad, because most of us won’t see each other again until the next rally. In the meantime, we eagerly await the next get-together.
We are proud of our chapter, which added two new members at the anniversary rally. We invite others to join us for good times. For more information, visit www.hmcclub.com.
