Walter “Lee” and Joy Atterholt, F500402
Occupations:
Lee: Retired Navy nurse and retired California peace officer.
Joy: Retired schoolteacher.
Home: Redlands, California.
RV: 1998 Beaver Monterey 3600 motorhome.
Pets: Two dogs, two ducks, and a cat.
RVing since: 2014.
How we met: We were both widowed. We met online via PlentyofFish.com and married five years ago. We always had wanted to see the USA by RVing, but our late spouses had poor health. We found each other and decided to seize the opportunity before us.
Most unusual place visited: The Dinosaur Museum in Blanding, Utah. It looked like a children’s activity center. Just for fun, we decided to go inside. What a surprise when it turned out to be a major site of fossil studies near the Badlands. We spent all day visiting and watching the scientists and workers.
Bucket list items we’ve checked off: Spending our honeymoon at Mount Rushmore and visiting the (lower) 48 states together.
Our bucket list still includes: FMCA and Beaver Ambassador Club events.
Best camping memory: Our honeymoon in the RV, and then waking up after camping on a small roadside turnout to find a herd of pronghorn just outside our window.
