Chapter Spotlight: Cuatro Estados

Chapter Spotlight: Cuatro Estados
Members of the Cuatro Estados chapter enjoy exploring areas known for spectacular scenery, such as this site in Monument Valley, Utah.

Members of the Cuatro Estados chapter embrace a spirit of adventure.

In 1986 the Cuatro Estados chapter was established to explore and enjoy the many adventures offered in the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Cuatro estados is Spanish for “four states.” The area where the states meet is known as the Four Corners. Most, but not all, of our members hail from those states. At least five full-timing couples join us, as well as some folks from as far away as New Jersey.

“The Spirit of Adventure” is our chapter’s motto. Exploring and learning while having fun is our goal. Our friendly, inclusive group of approximately 66 families spans many ages and all types of RVs. We strive to expose ourselves to outdoor adventures and learn about history and nature. We travel to fancy RV resorts, national and state parks, and remote or Forest Service locations, including areas known for spectacular scenery. We enjoy four-wheeling (many of us own off-road vehicles), back roads, historical sites, flora and fauna, rockhounding, bird-watching, photography, and anything else that someone suggests.

As you can see, we do a lot more than play games and eat, but we do that, too. Fun, food, and fellowship are happening all the time. And we don’t just stay in the Four Corners states; we’ve caravanned in parts of Texas, Utah, and California as well.

We hold rallies eight to nine times per year. You can see our current and past rally schedules on our website, www.cuatroestados.com, or our Facebook page, Cuatro Estados FMCA Chapter. You also can read our newsletter and view photos and videos to get an idea of the places we go and the things we do.

The website includes a membership application. The cost to join and first-year dues are $22.50 per single or $45 per couple; annual dues thereafter are $10 per single or $20 per couple. We’d love for you to attend a rally as our guest and see what you think! For more information, contact Gene Dorsey, (505) 974-1845; gene.dorsey@msn.com.

Do you own an unusual RV, participate in an interesting hobby, travel with pets, or have an RV adventure to tell about? Has your chapter observed a major anniversary, held a rally with a fun theme, honored a dedicated member, or helped out a charity? We want to hear about it. Share your story in 500 words or less, or contact us to tell us about an RV owner you think others should know about. A high-resolution photo and caption instead of an article are also welcome.
