Proteng Pricing
I read with interest the “Fire Fighter” article in the February 2022 issue of Family RVing. I read with particular interest because I have been in recent discussions with both the managing partner at Proteng and with National Indoor RV Centers in Lewisville, Texas, for a Proteng system for our 2019 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH.
You can imagine my surprise when I read at the end of Mark Quasius’ article that prices “vary from $159 to $1,399 depending on the size of the system.” This is very misleading. The prices quoted in the article are not for a system but rather apparently for single Proteng fire-suppression tubes. For example, according to Proteng, the price for the one Proteng tube for the engine compartment is $1,399. The cost estimate after the FMCA discount I have from NRVIC in Lewisville for a complete system for our motorhome is actually $3,887, quite a bit more than what the article would lead one to believe. I respectfully suggest that a correction to the article be published as soon as possible.

Editor’s note: We apologize for any confusion this wording created. Perhaps a better way to state it would be as follows:
Prices for each individual device installed vary from $139 to $1,499. The total price will depend on how many devices are added. Each device is calculated to protect a certain volume, and they vary in size from 8 inches to over 18 feet. Owners can choose to install a single device in the area that concerns them most, or multiple devices to protect various areas.
Also, we did make an error in the top-end price. That should have been $1,499 rather than $1,399 as the article stated.
We hope this explanation helps to clarify.
The Perfect Poem
Wow! My dad at 93 has not given up his wanderlust. He has downsized from a Class A to a Class C, with me, his daughter, now his traveling partner/driver. He got tears in his eyes reading “Road To Riches” by Ronald Johnson and said that’s the perfect poem (Readers Write, February 2022) and started reminiscing about all his travels, friends who have come and gone, and friends we still visit. Travel on, good buddy, and see you on the flip side!

Energizing A Brain
I got a chuckle out of the FMCA ad on pages 4 and 5 of the February issue. It shows a brain plugged into a 220-volt-AC EU standard wall outlet. Dr. Frankenstein would approve.
