Don Crawford, A11012, FMCA Great Lakes Area president from 2000 to 2003, passed away on August 22, 2024. The London, Ontario, resident was 84.

Don’s official obituary described him as “Lawyer. Bus Driver. Husband. Dad. Grandpa.” He practiced criminal law for 50 years and received the honorary title of Queen’s Counsel, or QC, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the legal profession. During his career, he served as president of two law associations, as well as his local Rotary Club. Thanks to his passion for all things bus-related, he also served as commissioner of the London Transit Commission.

Don and Kathy, his wife, joined FMCA in 1973. They became active in several association chapters, including the Prevost Prouds. They were charter members of the Ontario Overlanders, for which Don held various offices for many years. The Crawfords also were charter members of the Converted Coach and Great Lakes Converted Coach chapters.

Don once wrote, “I have an obvious interest in motorhoming, including the joys of pulling on the coveralls, rolling up my sleeves and getting grease on my hands trying to fix my converted coach, enjoying people, and helping out our fellow citizens. There is nothing like the open road, the scenery, and the fellowship of the great members of FMCA.”

As Great Lakes Area president, he was the first Canadian to serve on FMCA’s Executive Board. He also was a member of several national committees: the FMCA Review Council, Legislative Advisory Committee, President’s Council, and Policy and Procedure Committee.

Don was father to two daughters and a son, and grandfather of seven. He and Kathy were married for 60 years.
