Tech and Travel Tips: November 2014

Ladder Safety

Many of us need to climb ladders occasionally, but what goes up must come down. And coming down can be dangerous. I frequently found myself mistakenly thinking that my descending foot was on the bottom rung. Instead, it was a long stride to the ground, and I had to do some fancy footwork to stay vertical. So, to alert myself, I painted both sides of the bottom two steps on my 8-foot ladder; the second-to-last rung is black, and the last rung is red. My concerns have been met, and my safety has improved.

Scissors Search Ends

In our motorhome, we were always searching for the scissors. In my sewing room at home, I have a couple of scissors holders on the wall. My husband took one and installed it in the motorhome. Now the scissors are in a handy spot, out of the way, but where we can reach them.

Shower Helper

Our motorhome did not have shelves inside the shower. At a discount department store we purchased a shower caddy on a spring-loaded pole. We had to cut the metal pole a little to fit the motorhome shower, but other than that it was a snap to install. It holds soap, shampoos, razors, and other accessories while allowing water to flow through holes in the shelving. The shelves are height-adjustable.
