Family Matters: Meet The Family
Bill and Julie Bannister

Bill and Julie Bannister, F480763. Answers by Julie.

September 2018

Occupations: Bill is a musician and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Kansas Army National Guard. Julie is a sales manager/photographer.

Home: Kansas City, Missouri.

RV: Holiday Rambler Imperial, a 40-foot Type A motorhome.

Pet: Indiana Bones, our incredible Great Pyrenees puppy.

RVing since: April 2017. We have been married 33 years and have been all over the world together. Bill was diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease in 2016 and we are waiting on a miracle or a transplant — whichever happens first. We could no longer travel by planes, trains, or buses. We needed the ability to stop and rest when he needed it, and having his own bed, bathroom, and kitchen made travel still possible.

Favorite camping destination: Island Park, Idaho.

Most unusual place visited: The Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array, a radio astronomy observatory in Socorro County, New Mexico. The 1997 movie Contact, which starred Jodie Foster, was filmed there. Eerie and cool place.

One thing we never leave home without: TireMinder, a tire pressure monitoring system.

Funniest camping memory: We purchased our puppy this past fall and on a trip we recreated an RV scene from the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. We used it for our holiday cards. Still makes me laugh!
