Easier Leveling
In early July, I decided to buy SnapPad permanent jack pads for my Class A motorhome to increase the surface area of the stabilizer jacks when parking on soft surfaces such as dirt or asphalt (rvsnappad.com). Before ordering, I “chatted” with the company a few times to make sure the SnapPads would fit my stabilizers. The morning after I ordered, the company announced a 20 percent off sale, which would start two days later. I called customer support to see if they could work with me, even though my order had already been prepared for shipping. The day the sale started, I was refunded the difference. The SnapPads went on easily and should stay there for the life of my RV. Now I don’t have to reach under the RV to put my old pads underneath it. Thanks, RV SnapPad!

Frustrated Maestros Arr Us
Thanks to Bruce Taylor for the fun article about the Frustrated Maestros [Family Matters, July/August 2025]! And thanks to Kevin Derkowski for the great photos! I have been a member of the Frustrated Maestros for a few years. Being a Maestro means you make instant friends and have loads of fun practicing, performing, and hanging out at impromptu happy hours. I would like to encourage others to seek out a chapter near you to join in the fun. Do you sing (even if it’s just in the shower), or are you ready to pick up that instrument you played in high school and start playing again? Or do you just want to help move chairs or listen to the balance to let the group know how to adjust? We need you as a Maestro! I encourage you to join today!

Happy Campers
My father, Webb McLean, bought a used city bus in 1961 when I was 16 (I am now 80). He converted this bus into a custom-built motor coach — my first experience at motorized camping.
Soon after my wife and I were married, in 1965, we began camping together. We slept in the back of our station wagon, the only thing we could afford. A few years later, we were able to purchase a 13-foot travel trailer in which we traveled thousands of miles with two children in tow. Our current travel trailer is number eight. I enjoy towing our travel trailers, and we prefer this type of RV. We have visited 48 states and hundreds of campgrounds in the last 60 years.
We are new members of the Family RV Association: F557671. We are pleased that FRVA made the decision to become more inclusive and offer membership to all self-contained RVs.
We are fully retired and enjoy RV travel. I am pleased that the Dixie Traveliers chapter schedules a rally every month except July and August. This is a good fit with our travel preferences. We have enjoyed the FRVA members we have met so far, and the rally locations are interesting. I am amazed at the number of FRVA chapters and the locations of their rallies. We look forward to joining some of these chapters at their events.
In summary, we are pleased to be FRVA members and look forward to participating in future FRVA rallies. Thank you for a great organization and the support you provide to FRVA members.

Different RV Locks Idea
Regarding the “Added Security” entry in the “Our Picks” section of the June 2025 Tech Talk e-newsletter: I replaced the locks on my RV by searching for cabinet locks at Home Depot or Lowe’s. I purchased them for about $8 each. I simply looked at the key number for each pack and found five in the bin with the same number. This was a lot less expensive than paying a locksmith to make new keys and locks, as was suggested in the newsletter. If you only find a couple of keys that match, just wait and go check another store that has a bigger supply.
