Family Matters: Unbelievable Year Of Growth For Cuatro Estados
Cuatro Estados members proudly show off their new chapter T-shirts. The group's rallies and get-togethers often involve exploring locations off the beaten path.

Membership in FMCA’s Cuatro Estados chapter generally hovered around 40 RVs, plus or minus. But we achieved some impressive membership statistics in 2021. The chapter grew from 64 families to 83 in a period of 10 months, from January 2021 to October 2021. We now have about 160 people in the club.

We don’t know what to attribute our growth to. Perhaps it is our easy-to-use website, which includes online enrollment and payment. It could be our presence on Google, which uses key search words for our camping club. Maybe it is our Facebook presence showing our events and photos of our activities. It could also be the nationwide increase in RV sales. Perhaps the most successful recruiting tool has been our members telling others about their club and encouraging their friends to join in the fun.

Whatever it is, we are currently enjoying the largest number of new members in our club’s history. Now, if we can just figure out how to host rallies with all our eager and excited members.

Our chapter members have the “spirit of adventure,” and we enjoy exploring the world around us. Cuatro Estados is Spanish for “Four States,” and most of our monthly rallies are held somewhere in the “Four Corners” states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Rallies usually last about a week.

Most of us love exploring the back country and searching out great scenery, historical areas, and “off the grid” locations. We do this mostly via our tow vehicles (including some four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive), but often via great hikes, and sometimes via water (kayaks) or bicycle.

We also have held longer “caravan” trips through the four-state region as well as in other parts of the country, such as California and Texas. A few of us have spent most of a winter traveling together around Arizona and Southern California, or have spent a summer traveling together for longer trips, such as to Alaska or Newfoundland.

We are a friendly and inclusive camping club. We also have many full-time RVers among us. So many of our members travel frequently outside the area that even with 80 RV families as members, rally attendance averages between eight and 25 RVs. And it’s never the same people showing up, so each time you usually meet someone new! Interesting also is our age range: from 50 to 100!

If you, too, have the spirit of adventure, we would love to have you as a member of Cuatro Estados. All FMCA members are welcome to attend any of our rallies as guests,
so you might want to visit one of our upcoming rallies and check us out. Hope to see you on the road!
