We Could Finally Exhale!

We were on our way back home to Kentucky from the Florida Keys when we had an accident with another driver in central Florida. Unfortunately, my husband — driving a Freightliner sleeper-cab semi pulling a 38-foot fifth-wheel — was somewhat in the right lane in order to make a wide left turn. The other driver, apparently in a hurry and pulling up too close inside our left-side turning lane at the last minute, caused my husband to not see him — therefore the accident. Fault on both sides, but my husband, being the driver of the moving vehicle, got the ticket, which is Florida law.

Now here’s a 74-year-old man who has never made a claim to his insurance company in 58 years nor had a moving violation (and we insure a number of vehicles) facing a traffic ticket with court costs, points on his license, our insurance going up, traffic school, and possible trips back and forth to Florida to go to court, which would be added expense.

We were very worried and thought it may be a good idea to get a lawyer, but we knew nobody in that area. Then we saw an ad for Defender Donahue Law PLLC in the area where we had the accident. So, we called Mr. Patrick C. Donahue, Esq. He and his wife are young and building their law practice, and they specialize in accidents. We explained our situation, and he said he could take our case and represent us in court so we wouldn’t have to come back to Florida. His fee was very reasonable — way less than the costs we were facing, not to mention the inconvenience. So, we took a leap of faith and hired him. Not only did he do what he promised, he’d call or email us to keep us informed. And each time we talked to him, he was so nice, helpful, and very professional.

My husband was cleared completely of any charges, and the case was totally dismissed! No points, fines, court costs, or traffic school, and best of all: our insurance didn’t go up. We lived so far away, and hiring Mr. Donahue was the best thing we could have done. When he called to give us the court ruling, we could finally exhale. We would highly recommend him and his law firm to anyone needing representation in Florida.
