While attending a large FMCA rally in northern Colorado in the summer of 1999, a group of RVers from the Colorado Springs and Monument areas met and decided to form a small, more intimate chapter closer to home. They called it the Pikes Peak Rollers.
Twenty-one couples attended the first meeting. The chapter was chartered in 2000 and has been going strong ever since. Six rallies a year are held throughout the state from May through October.
The chapter is known for its friendly, welcoming behavior. Almost everyone who visits decides to join. Membership now stands at 32 couples, which includes members from the western and eastern parts of Colorado.
This past summer at the Fourth of July rally held in beautiful Montrose, Colorado, the Pikes Peak Rollers chapter celebrated its 15th anniversary. Only six original couples are left, and three of them — Gene and Liz Wheeler, Jim and Susan Clark, and Roger and Mina Sue Krause — attended the anniversary party. Original members who are still active in the chapter but could not attend are Al and Ann Fick, Bill and Sheila Bishop, and Allen and Glenda Rein.
