Colorado Columbines members gathered July 6-9, 2017, at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort for a special event: the chapter’s 25th anniversary celebration. The location was significant. Founding member Dick Greener explained that the idea to form the chapter was hatched in 1992 at Mountaindale, which is just south of Colorado Springs.
The celebration included a catered banquet at the Gooseberry Patch Restaurant. Dick gave a presentation on the chapter’s history, and Donna Kellogg and Judy Smith handed out a surprise gift: a 25th-anniversary commemorative clock. Country singer/songwriter Lobo Loggins provided the entertainment.
The Colorado Columbines now have 27 member families. Most members live on the Front Range of Colorado between Pueblo and Fort Collins. From May to September, we gather for weekend campouts on the second weekend of the month, and then on the first weekend of October. Typically, each event draws 10 to 15 motorhomes. Food is always plentiful. We also find time to socialize, play games, go on tours, make crafts, and have bonfires, as well as relax.
The Columbines are part of the Rocky Mountain Area. We are a small chapter and we welcome fun and friendly folks to join us. We also are always on the lookout for new places to visit on our campout weekends. Yearly dues are $21 per RV with rally fees of $12 per person.
