Motorhome parking assistance

Parking Assistance

We often arrive home after dark, and I must be extremely careful when backing up the driveway next to my house. To provide a reference point that is easily visible in my rearview mirror, I put a solar-powered light at the back end of the driveway. The light I purchased came from Harbor Freight and is designed specifically for use on driveways.

RV airflow solutionAirflow Solution

When we are set up at a campground with the windows open, we get very little airflow through the window next to the door when it is latched open. To help solve this problem, we use our awning wand. We secure the wand to the latch on the door and then to the awning leg attached to the motorhome. This allows the door to remain open but not block the window, and the door will not be blown shut by the breeze. Now we get airflow through both the window and the door.

Editor’s note: This may not work for everyone, as the placement of the awning arm and the distance it is from the door will likely be different for various motorhomes. However, the use of a different length of rod and/or attachment point may be possible.

Securing cabinet linersSecuring Cabinet Liners

Using nonskid rubber shelf liners is a great way to stop items from sliding around inside your motorhome’s cabinets while traveling. However, sometimes the liners will bunch up. To keep this from happening, put thumbtacks in the four corners of each shelf liner (not too close to the ends). If you have a long stretch of liner, add one or two thumbtacks in the middle portion to keep it in place.
