Expanding storage in motorhome

Stop Splashing Water

If the sinks or toilets in your motorhome splash water when initially used after connecting to city water, first connect the fresh water hose to the park faucet; run enough water to fill the hose; and then connect the hose to the RV. By doing this, you will eliminate the air in the water circuit, and you will not experience the annoying, messy splashing that can occur when these items are first used.

Expanding Storage

As a way to prevent thinner, flimsy items such as magazines, manuals, envelopes, and brochures from becoming loose, wrinkled, and potentially airborne in overhead cabinets, I use stackable plastic letter-size files. They are the standard office supply variety, and they nest and lock together to keep things organized. I also trimmed the top file to accept a flat drawer organizer. This way I have areas for pens, markers, rubber bands, etc., without them taking up valuable coach drawer space.

Shower step in motorhomeShower Step

When it was discovered that I had a bad hip and couldn’t maneuver into our 2000 Bounder’s shower stall, it presented a major difficulty. So, my husband designed an outside-the-shower step. He used scrap two-by-fours and plywood. The step is 5 1/4 inches high, 24 inches wide, and 18 inches deep, and was measured to fit in front of the shower door to provide a stable step to help me get in and out of the shower. On top of the plywood he added a thin piece of rubber matting that can be cleaned easily. During travel, the step is stored in the shower stall.
