Family Matters: Beat The Odds Celebrates 25 Years
The Beat The Odds chapter hosts two rallies in Nevada each year, including one at Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino.

Big on gaming and entertainment, members of this Western Area chapter always have a great time at their rallies.

Do you like to gamble? Do you enjoy the lights and excitement of a casino? Do you enjoy the company of good friends and relish great food? Then Beat The Odds may be just the group for you.

Beat The Odds, an FMCA chapter, was established in 1998 in Indio, California. Members are from California, Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon. We have two rallies per year in Nevada — one is held in Laughlin in February, and another takes place in Pahrump in October. One of the main activities of the chapter is a private slot tournament at each rally with proceeds awarded to folks with the top scores.

The Pahrump rally is the more laid-back of the two, but it still has the featured private slot tournament at a nearby casino. We also have a hot dog cookout and play bunco, and we have time to explore the area or just relax. The rally concludes with
a catered awards dinner and award presentation for the slot tournament and bunco. We stay at Preferred RV Resort and use many of its amenities. The resort has park models to rent if you can’t bring your RV.

The Laughlin rally is held at Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino. All activities take place in one of the hotel banquet rooms overlooking the Colorado River. Attendees have a choice of staying at the hotel or in Riverside’s RV park with full hookups.

The first day, registration is held in the morning, with doughnuts and coffee supplied. A pasta buffet during the first evening in the hotel’s banquet room provides a chance for all attendees to meet and greet. Events for the following two days include the private slot tournament, bunco, board and general meetings, and exploring the area with its many casinos, as well as traveling Route 66 to the town of Oatman. The rally is capped off with a tasty banquet dinner on the final night and a presentation of awards from the slot tournament and bunco.

Our rallies are open to all FMCA members and any guests. Our 25-year celebration this year will be held in Pahrump, Nevada, at our October rally. Watch for the event registration, as it will be a special time for Beat The Odds members and anyone interested in attending this rally, including non-members. If you’re looking for a fun group to join, please check us out at our 25-year celebration in Pahrump or at our other rally in Laughlin.
