From Campground Roots To Leading The FRVA Road Ahead
Get to know the Family RV Association national office staff. In this issue, we feature Sherry Light, membership director, and the Membership Services team.

When she’s not assisting Family RV Association members and leading the Membership team at the FRVA national office, membership director Sherry Light enjoys spending time at her seasonal campsite along the Ohio River and traveling with the RV to music festivals.
Before I ever stepped into my role as membership director for Family RV Association (FRVA), my journey had already begun — on wheels.
As my family’s first home was being built, my parents had a plan and an RV. While the house was under construction, my earliest memories were made in that humble trailer — proof that adventure doesn’t wait for the perfect setup. From that point on, life on the road became part of who I am.
By the time I was a teenager, the road had turned into a dance floor. My grandparents loaded up all 15 grandkids into motorhomes and headed to the Great Smoky Mountains for epic family hoedowns. Summers were filled with laughter, music, and RV rallies that stitched together unforgettable family bonds.
After college in 1999, I joined a fourth-generation paving company as a paver operator, then moved on to estimating, and ultimately became president. I spent over 20 years in construction. Fun fact: I was a contractor for Ohio Department of Natural Resources to renovate campground sites, making them ADA compliant. I came to FMCA (now FRVA) in 2021 during COVID-19 as project manager, looking for a change after years in construction. In July 2024, I started working with the association’s Management Committee and recently stepped into my role as membership director.

When she’s not assisting Family RV Association members and leading the Membership team at the FRVA national office, membership director Sherry Light enjoys spending time at her seasonal campsite along the Ohio River and traveling with the RV to music festivals.
Today, I own a travel trailer and belong to FRVA (F522611). You’ll likely find me camping under the stars — at Riverfront RV Park, a campground along the Ohio River just east of Cincinnati — or enjoying the beat at my favorite music festivals. My campsite is always glowing with lights, a comfy setup, and an open invite to swap stories or share a drink.
As FRVA’s membership director, I try to bring that same love for community and connection to every member interaction. I don’t just understand the RV lifestyle; I live it. My goal is to help others find that same joy in the journey, whether they’re first-time campers or seasoned road warriors.
To me, FRVA isn’t just an association: It’s a family on the move. And no matter where your tires take you, I’ll be right there, cheering you on, campground to campground.
