We just purchased our first motorhome, a preowned 2006 28-foot model. The unit is in great shape, and I would like to keep it that way. I want to clean the roof, but I have heard that you can’t walk on all motorhome roofs. Â

From the time I purchased our new 2003 Fleetwood Discovery, the propane gauge at the front of the motorhome always has read full, regardless of the amount of fuel in the tank.Â
Two Kinds Of Volume
Dear Editor:
I enjoyed the article “High-Volume Power Roof Vents” in the June 2011 issue (page 82). One useful item of information for comparison purposes would have been the noise level generated by each model.
Well, it is that time of the year. Some of you are lingering up north, while others are either making plans to head south for the winter or are already in a warmer climate. Whatever the case, enjoy yourselves and the RV lifestyle we share.
This month brings not only the cooler weather and the possibility of reduced travel in our motorhomes, but it also brings back the thoughts and memories of two holidays that most of us celebrate.
It’s fascinating when I think back to when I was a child and arrived at the conclusion that Cheese Nips, the Cheddar cheese-flavored baked crackers, were only available 50 miles from home. The reason I believed that was because the only time we had them was when the family took an automobile trip.

Florida once again finds itself full of new amusement park opportunities for the entire family. From St. Augustine to Winter Haven, individuals of all ages can make plans this winter to visit and enjoy three new superb attractions.

Foretravel Inc. founder C.M. Fore, an innovator in the motorhome industry, died on August 5, 2011, in his hometown of Nacogdoches, Texas, at the age of 82.

Hose Storage
Waste tank management is one of the least pleasant chores related to motorhome travel. On my 2008 Winnebago Outlook Type C motorhome, I especially found stowing the sanitation hose to be a problem.
Bright sunshine and refreshingly cool temperatures welcomed thousands of motorhome enthusiasts who poured into Madison, Wisconsin, for FMCA’s 86th Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase, held August 10 through 13, 2011, at the Alliant Energy Center.
Showerhead Separation
Dear RV Doctor:
Our outdoor showerhead has broken off from the hose on our new coach. Not only did the head break off, but the connector to the hose broke as well, so simply replacing the head isn’t an option. Â

Chevy Cruze Automatic No Longer Approved For Flat TowingFMC recently was notified by several FMCA members that Chevrolet has issued a bulletin and supplemental owners manual page that advises owners not to flat tow Chevrolet Cruze vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, even though the owners manual states that the vehicle can be towed four wheels down.
Ready For Towing

Thank you very much for the “Beating The Breakdown Blues†article (June 2011, page 60) with its Roadside Emergency Chart. We used that chart as a template and then customized it to meet our needs.

Motorhome owners sometimes express confusion about batteries and what charges them. All RV manufacturers follow some conventions, but enough differences exist that one cannot categorically say all RVs are alike in this regard.

If you have never been to a Mardi Gras celebration in your motorhome, you need to visit the Cruisin’ Cajuns chapter during our open Mardi Gras rally, held each year in Rayne, Louisiana. This year’s rally, which took place February 17 through 20, 2011, at the City of Rayne RV Park, included 212 coaches and was an incredible event.

Power Switch Problem
We have a 2001 Country Coach Allure motorhome, and I hope you can help me with a shore power question. I think the problem is the Todd Engineering power switch, model PS245L, located at the motorhome’s electrical entry point. Todd Engineering is no longer in business.
Height Restrictions At Some Walmart Lots
James Beck, F278365, alerted FMCA that Walmart stores in Arkansas and Mississippi have put barriers with height limits of 12 feet at the entrance to their parking lots. In order to learn whether this was an across-the-board change or a local issue, Paul DuBois, F296221, FMCA’s national vice president, Northeast Area, and a member of the Governmental and Legislative Affairs Committee, looked into the matter.
