The Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado is a landscape often seared and dried by the sun. Today it’s hard to imagine the area filled with families growing crops of corn, squash, and beans; chatting and weaving baskets; and conducting a lively trade with other communities stretching across what is now the southwestern United States.
